Review: The Bride of Frankenstein, 1935
Regarded as the best of the Frankenstein films, The Bride of Frankenstein was directed by James Whale ( director of the original Frankenstein ) in 1935, and starred Boris Karloff and Elsa Lanchester. Dr. Frankenstein and his monster both turn out to be alive, not killed as previously believed. Dr. Frankenstein wants to get out of the evil experiment business, but when a mad scientist, Dr. Pretorius, kidnaps his wife, Dr. Frankenstein agrees to help him create a new creature, a woman, to be the companion of the monster. Overall, for its time, The Bride of Frankenstein is a true classic, and it is still a movie you could view multiple times. I rate it as a 4 star horror movie. |
